Second Start is Urbni’s transitional housing program, created for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Our mission is to provide more than just temporary shelter—we offer a stable launchpad where residents can rebuild their lives, access critical resources, and transition into permanent, independent housing.

Life can change in an instant—job loss, domestic violence, health issues, or economic hardship can leave anyone without a home. Second Start is here to ensure that doesn’t become the end of the story.

Without a safe place to live, everything else becomes harder—finding a job, staying healthy, raising a family. Second Start provides:

• Short-to-medium term housing with structured support
• Access to employment, childcare, and life-skills resources
• A community that uplifts and empowers every resident

We meet people where they are, then help them get where they want to go—with dignity, compassion, and actionable support.

• Stabilized Housing: Clean, secure, and furnished homes for individuals, couples, or families in transition.
• Case Management: On-site support to help with goal setting, budgeting, job applications, and navigating public services.
• Empowerment Resources: From GED prep and résumé workshops to parenting classes and food access, we connect residents with what they need to thrive.
• Path to Independence: Residents work with case managers to develop a personal transition plan and secure permanent housing within 6 to 18 months.

Second Start serves individuals and families who are currently unhoused, living in shelters, or at risk of homelessness. We prioritize applicants who are motivated to work toward long-term independence and stability.

Second Start homes are strategically located near public transportation, schools, and job centers. Each location is carefully chosen to balance privacy, accessibility, and access to essential services.
